Why Use Salter Kitchen Scales?

The most important reason is precision. When a recipe calls for 8 ounces of flour we need to measure that by weight not volume. If you use a measuring cup for example you are measuring 8 ounces by volume ... but this does not account for whether the flour is sifted or tightly packed.

Using a measuring cup you can end up with 2x as much flour as required. When you use Salter kitchen scales measuring is much more accurate and precise and therefore repeatable.

Which brings me to my second point. The second most important reason to use Salter kitchen scales ... repeatablity.

When you use a Salter kitchen scale you can repeat a recipe everytime exactly as you did it last time and predictably get the same results each time. You can add the same amount of flour, butter or sugar exactly the same each time if you first measure and record your steps with a scale.

And the last reason is swiftness. Believe it or not you can measure ingredients faster with a scale than you can with a scoop. With a scoop you must scoop and then level with a stright edge ... with a scale you simply pour until you reach the desired amount. 1 step versus 2 steps.
